Spend your mornings splashing in the ocean waves, your afternoons taking in the vistas on the roof deck, and your evenings unwinding in the ultra-private hot tub beneath a sky full of stars. Appreciate a peaceful and peaceful neighborhood location, with direct access to a running/walking/cycling pathway along Bay Drive - a amazing way to begin or end vacation days. There’s also a kids’s picnic table so your group can share alfresco meals together. You can let your dog out in the fenced yard and find a calming seat on the patio, the mid-level deck, or the rooftop crow's nest, furnished with an outdoor dining table.

Get dinner going in the open kitchen with stainless steel appliances (including a French-door refrigerator and a gas range) and set the dining room table. The evening hours are best spent watching movies on the sectional in the living room or retreating downstairs to the den for a foosball tournament.

Booking the best rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Choosing and booking the best Kill Devil Hills vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Dog-friendly home on the soundside - private hot tub, crow's nest & YMCA access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is best for your group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
