Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Kill Devil Hills. To get the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Purple Pearl: Shared Pool with Lazy River has 2 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills attraction you are enamored with, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
