Tricks and tips to get the very best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick a perfectrental home:
- To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Steps from the Avalon Pier has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
