Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:

When to book a Kill Devil Hills rental & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. To find the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the best rental home in Kill Devil Hills:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautifully furnished townhome with access to indoor and outdoor pools! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
