With the exception of local family stories and legends, Kill Devil Hills' history is hard to trace prior to the Wright Brothers' historic First Flight in 1903. In fact, even the origin of the town's fascinating name is not certain, and the many theories that surround the moniker involve pirates, shipwrecked buccaneers, and barrels of rum strong enough to "kill the devil."
If you’re vacationing, why not enjoy “all you can eat.” Captain Georges Seafood Restaurant offers an incredible buffet of over 70 items. Pile your plate high with snow crab legs, oysters, shrimp, salmon and mahi-mahi --- and all your favorite seafood, meat, side dishes and veggies!
All food is prepared daily at the restaurant, from homemade salad dressing to casseroles and freshly baked desserts. You are sure to find something on the buffet to make your mouth water! But you can order plated dishes from the menu, and there’s a children’s menu as well.
Captain George’s is a family-owned and operated chain restaurant that has been serving the region since 1978. This enormous, gorgeous location in Kill Devil Hills boasts 400-seats so if there happens to be a wait time, it’s usually minimal. Captain Georges can accommodate large parties. You’ll delight in the casual, upscale atmosphere and friendly service.
If you’re not looking for a buffet, spend time at “Just Georges,” the restaurant’s sports bar. This is one of the most enjoyable places to have a drink in Kill Devil Hills. The elegant and enormous bar area with lit counter tops and many large screen tvs make it perfect for watching any sporting event. Each booth table in the large bar area has its own personal television! There also is a bar menu that is served all day and into the late evening hours.
You’ll have an unforgettable experience at Captain Georges, but t-shirts and glassware are available for souvenirs if you'd like a momento.
