Tricks and tips to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Kill Devil Hills. Book your Kill Devil Hills rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best vacation home in Kill Devil Hills:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. A Great Bargin, Pet Friendly. Two & half blocks from the beach. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If not, contact the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
