Tips to get the best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose the bestvacation home:
- Start by having your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 5527 Blue Skies and Tailwinds * Canalfront has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
