Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to book:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Kill Devil Hills. To get the best rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing your prefectrental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 8/11-8/18 Discount !\nBeachfront @ Outer Banks Beach Club II Amazing Ocean view has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills destination you crave, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
