Tips to get the best Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book your Kill Devil Hills vacation home:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Waterfront Harbor Home, Sunset Views, Fireplace, Private dock and Boat Slip has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

Tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
