Tips for getting the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:

When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to book:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Kill Devil Hills vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Chillin' -3 BR, EASY 4 min walk to beach, quiet area, July20-27 available has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
