Kill Devil Hills rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Reserve your Kill Devil Hills rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the perfect rental in the Kill Devil Hills area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Garber Harbor in Colington Harbor Waterfront Canal Hot Tub Jimmy Buffett Bar has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
