Tricks and tips for getting the best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
