Kill Devil Hills rental booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in Kill Devil Hills:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Pet-friendly soundside home with private pool! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is best for your trip.
  • If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
