Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are high season in Kill Devil Hills. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Finding the best rental in the Kill Devil Hills area:

  • Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Private Studio in ? of KDH. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
