Strategies to get the very best Kill Devil Hills vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Kill Devil Hills. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- 5 BR
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, email the host before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
