Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Kill Devil Hills vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
