Our top Kill Devil Hills rental home booking tips:
When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental & When to go:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Kill Devil Hills:
- Select dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. SunsetSanctuary-CanalFront/DogFriendly/Pool&Tennis has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
