Convenient, beautiful, comfortable, well-equipped, charmingly decorated: It’s so hard to describe Waterloo that you will just have to come see it for yourself, and when you do prepare to fall in adore. Waterloo still contains many features from its original 1937 construction. The wood floors are intact. The interior doors are original, as well as the tongue and groove paneling on the walls and ceilings. Despite the classic feel, additions throughout the years ensure that all current needs are met, whether it is margaritas on the broad decks and covered porches or pancakes in the morning with the grandkids in the sizable kitchen, remodeled to meet modern standards. One trip to Waterloo and you’ll be making it an annual tradition. The central location means all necessities, such as grocery stores, eateries and shopping, are close by. However, with the comfort of the central air-conditioning, well equipped kitchen, and multiple tv’s at Waterloo you may just want to stay put. Covered porches wrap three sides and there is an extended deck to the east so you will have no problem appreciating sunrises or sunsets. Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Kill Devil Hills. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
