Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Outer Banks Beach Club charming oceanside resort with private beach and pools has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
