Strategies to get the very best Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking your prefectrental:
- Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Cozy condo near the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Advice for your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
