Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Kill Devil Hills. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Entire Home less than a mile from the beach and a public boat ramp! Remodel 2021 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
