Tricks and tips to get the very best Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Kill Devil Hills area. Booking your Kill Devil Hills vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. NEW LISTING: Breathtaking Waterfront Views w\/ Private Dock has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
- If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
