Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Pet-friendly w\/Hot Tub! Clean & Cute! Twin B has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If not, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
