Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
When to book a Kill Devil Hills rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Kill Devil Hills area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Relax in Privacy - Centrally Located Home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
