Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Kill Devil Hills restaurants and activities.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental in the Kill Devil Hills area:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 1 block from the Sound! Close to the Beach. Linens and Bath Towels included! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills destination you are crazy about, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
