When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Reserve your Kill Devil Hills rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect rental home in Kill Devil Hills:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. OBX Getaway: Convenient Beach and Sound Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
