Kill Devil Hills rental property booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. SS9 Raynorshine by First Flight Rentals has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
