Tips to get the optimal Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your Kill Devil Hills vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Great Beach Retreat - Summer Dates Open 2024 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Kill Devil Hills destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
