Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer is high season in Kill Devil Hills. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the best Kill Devil Hills rental home:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Anchors Away Magnificent Sunsets Waterfront Albemarle Sound Kill Devil Hills has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills beach you crave, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
