Getting the best rental home experience:
When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to book:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Kill Devil Hills area. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Kill Devil Hills area:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Endless Summer KDH has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
