Our top Kill Devil Hills rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding the best value:

  • To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking the right Kill Devil Hills vacation home:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. KDH Cozy Log Cabin near wood preserve has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
