For a classic OBX experience and a throwback to simpler times, make The Pink House your next home away from home. This cozy and comfortable bungalow is brimming with history and vintage appeal. Constructed in the 1960's and lovingly maintained, The Pink House still features the original exposed beam ceilings. Two screened porches - one in the front and a second on the back of the home - are ideal for outdoor living while being protected from the elements. Family Animals are welcome, so your fur babies can join you on your next trip to the Outer Banks!
When it's time to hit the beach, take a fast drive north to the Hayman Blvd beach access, which provides plenty of complimentary parking. Sidewalks and close by pedestrian crosswalks make it simple to discover the neighborhood on foot or by bicycle. Within a half mile radius you'll find Avalon Fishing Pier, the Front Porch Cafe, Wawa, Target, a movie theater and dining options including Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar and The Jolly Roger.
Can’t stay an entire week? The Pink House is available for short stays with flexible arrival/departure options. For guests who like to plan ahead, partial week stays (three-nighttime minimum) can be reserved months in advance. Choose any day of the week for check-in and check-out.
Pets allowed. No smoking/vaping. Mini-split air conditioning (3 units).

Tips for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summertime is high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Kill Devil Hills restaurants and activities.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the Kill Devil Hills area:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Pet-Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
