Finding the best rental home experience:

When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Booking your Kill Devil Hills vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. FFR212 \"At Last\" by First Flight Rentals has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
