Booking the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental home & When to go:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Kill Devil Hills attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. OBX~Beach~Sunsets~Bike Path~Mini Golf~Lighthouses~Shops~Walking Distance~Sunrise has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
