Strategies for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental home:

  • Reserve your Kill Devil Hills rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Tutter's Two-Oceanfront condo w\/views, wheelchair friendly, elevator in building has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
