Two Shipwrecks are Just Offshore. Great snorkeling. Walk to the beach in 3 mins..

3 MINUTE WALK TO THE BEACH!! Our home is named “PADI-SHACK” after the Professional Association of Diving Instructors...the owners are avid scuba divers and we adore to share our experiences with our guests. Our guests often like to go out to the shipwreck with us and we appreciate being "tour guides". And, we have MANY friends that we have acquired over the years who are here for huge parts of the summer. You'll be welcomed into the "family"....and YOU WILL LOVE IT.

Padi-Shack has three bedrooms, two baths, and a screened in porch just off the kitchen. There are ocean vistas from the upper decks, and there is a pretty ground level deck with patio furnishings and an OBX style swing. The owners don’t live far away and we will do anything we can to make this your best vacation EVER!

PLEASE NOTE...we do not supply linens or paper products. A full week (Saturday to Saturday) is required during prime time rental periods. Off season check-ins and visits are
very flexible, requiring a minimum of only 2 nights!

WE REQUIRE KNOWING THE AGES OF ALL PARTIES THAT WILL BE VISITING! WE HAVE NEIGHBORS THAT LOOK AFTER OUR HOME. IF YOU ARE OF HIGH SCHOOL AND/OR COLLEGE AGE, YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE ACCOMPANYING YOU THAT ARE ABOVE THE AGE OF 30 YEARS OLD! NO EXCEPTIONS.

Tips and Tricks to get the very best Kill Devil Hills rental experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Book your Kill Devil Hills rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by having your group commit to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Snorkel A Shipwreck...Two Ships Are On The Bottom Just Off The Beach!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
