Tricks and tips for getting the best Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
Get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Kill Devil Hills area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental home:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Aqua Adventure: Community Pool
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
