How to find the best Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to book:
- Summer is high season in Kill Devil Hills. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Pool/Hot Tub and Short Walk to Beach! Brand New Hot Tub for Warm Winter Nights! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If not, call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
