Strategies to get the very best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. CH207- Spectacular Soundfront, 3 BRs, Private Dock, Comm Pool, Tennis/Marina. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Kill Devil Hills attraction you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
