Finding the best Kill Devil Hills rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Reserve your Kill Devil Hills rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. CH207- Spectacular Soundfront, 3 BRs, Private Dock, Comm Pool, Tennis/Marina. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
