Getting the best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect rental home in Kill Devil Hills:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Semi-OF Sunday Turn Over! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
